As I announced at the 9:00 Mass last Sunday, I’ll be having some relatively minor surgery on Monday, April 1st, at Georgetown Hospital to remove a benign tumor from my right parotid gland. I should be discharged from the hospital the following morning. Though routine, the surgery and recovery are a little tricky because of potential impairment of facial muscle control. Expected recovery is two to four weeks. As a result, you probably won’t see me very often in the month of April. I’ll be recuperating here but not appearing publicly until I’ve recovered sufficiently. I take consolation in the knowledge that you’ll be in good hands with Fr. Brendan during my convalescence. Please keep me in your prayers, and be assured of my continued prayers for you.
