As recommended by our St. E’s Pastoral and Finance Councils, at all Sunday Masses on November 17th, we will be invited to make in-pew stewardship pledges for the New Year.
Christian stewardship is a call to use our God-given gifts for others. As Christians, we strive to imitate the generous self-giving of Jesus Christ in our personal stewardship.
“Stewardship” is not Church code for money, though Christian stewardship certainly includes the use of our money. Stewardship properly understood also includes our personal commitments to prayer and worship as well as to service.
And so Sunday after next we will be invited to make three specific pledges as follows:
1. I pledge that in 2020 I will pray and worship □ less □ about the same □ more than in 2019
2. I pledge that in 2020 I will serve St. E’s □ less □ about the same □ more than in 2019.
3. I pledge that in 2020 I will support St. E’s financially □ less □ about the same □ more than in 2019.
To help our prayer and reflection upon our stewardship pledges, both our website and next Sunday’s bulletin will include information about parish opportunities to serve as well as our annual parish financial report.
As we celebrate our parish patronal feast of St. Elizabeth today, may we imitate her generosity to her pregnant cousin, the Blessed Virgin Mary, as we share our gifts with our parish family in the year ahead!
