Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace:
-it unites us more firmly to Christ;
-it increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us;
-it renders our bond with the Church more perfect;
-it gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross. (CCC, no. 1303)
The normal age for reception of Confirmation in the Archdiocese of Washington is eighth grade. Note that two consecutive years of preparation are required by the Archdiocese and three years (6th-8th grade) are what we, at St. E's, recommend. If you have a child in Middle School and would like to inquire about Confirmation, contact Stephanie Moss at smoss@stelizabethchurchmd.org
If you have a teenager who is not confirmed, or if you are an adult who would like to be confirmed, please contact Mary Theresa Heneghan, Director of Christian Formation: mtheneghan@stelizabethchurchmd.org or at 301-881-130 ext. 309.
