This weekend we had the chance to come together - virtually - and reflect on just how much God loves us! We talked about how dirty sin can turn our souls (like a dirty penny) and how Jesus paid the price for our sins, so that we can come home to God (in Reconciliation) as He comes running out to greet us and clean us off, just like the Forgiving Father in the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32).
We talked about what a sin is and some of the ways that we have sinned - taking time to go through each of the 10 Commandments. By reflecting on the ways we have sinned, we began an examination of our consciences, so that can start to prepare our hearts (and minds) for our first celebration of Reconciliation!
The Church says we need to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least once a year (to clean off any dirt and grunge that's gotten on our soul), although we are encouraged to go more than that! Oftentimes we might choose to go during Lent, as we reflect on how Jesus suffered and died for our sins and Advent, as we prepare to welcome Jesus into our hearts on Christmas morning.
Check out some of our pretty (piggy) creations!
